Etna

"To the elements it came from
Everything will return.
Our bodies to earth,
Our blood to water,
Heat to fire,
Breath to air"

I

It mattered not how Etna burned,
Or how great lives were lost,
All have called for an afterlife,
Or a life of worth.

And from where we start we end,
From the awakening to finite silence,
Roads are trod, castles are built,
Bridges are burnt, and empires conquered.

Each one lives a life that is known to them,
In revelry or pride, or nothingness,
And all judge, and watch and speak,
That the lives of others are no good.

Life, we value life,
And yet thousands die in battle,
Millions sometimes, and life,
Then what is it valued as?

The greatest minds could have perished,
Or been tormented into living hell,
While the wasted simply watched,
Unknowing, and unbecoming.

Ambition, one may call it,
Is a double edged sword.
And who knows how to curb it,
The mind of a madman stays in thirst.

A great life perished at Etna,
A great warrior died of a nosebleed,
Pindarus took a great life on misperception,
So this is the world that has now become.

II

Structure, structure,
All consuming, all convincing,
Joining these structures,
Fleeing these structures.

Structures built to consume all,
And all want you to conform,
This might not be spoken of,
But Confirmation is acceptance.

To walk the long roads alone,
One must be brave,
To burn ones bridges one must be brave,
And bravery stems from you inner soul.

Money and Power all so glorious,
All so convincing,
As if the be all and end all,
But its the start of a slow death.

III

One to another,
And from there to the next.
Hear the voices,
They are calling,
They want you to join,
And if you run,
How far will you run?
Till your passion runs dry,
And one of the structures,
Falls on you,
And takes you in,
Time passes,
And life passes,
Awake another day,
Another life,
Another person,
And you think,
“What have i done”?
And you realise,
Tiss all a game.
And most play the same game,
Run, ride your waves,
Build your thoughts,
And when structures come,
Slay them,
Not all battles are won,
But fight till the last dying breath.
Or else give in today,
And be done.
We come from nothing,
Go to nothing,
Make what you can of what you have.
